Stourbridge CP Fundraising Evening 12th July 2014

Fundraising Evening A Great Success!

On Saturday the 12th of July 2014, 55 people attended Stourbridge Football Club for a fun evening in aid of Cats Protection – Stourbridge, Dudley and Wyre Forest Branch. The event, organised by Charlene Butler, raised a grand total of £422.40.

The evening began with a challenging cat themed quiz prepared and presented by English Teacher Emily Butler. There was a prize for the best team name (Thorntons chocolates) and the losing team were forced to wear fancy headdress for the rest of the evening as a forfeit. First prize was a bottle of wine for each winner except for 12 year old Charlie Grainger who won a baseball cap and bottle. Second prize was donated by Severn Edge Vets, sports water bottles and green baseball caps which the team wore proudly for the rest of the evening (see photo below). Third prize was a choice of chocolates won by a table of CP volunteers.

Wollaston Fish Bar catered the event with a delivery of individually packaged mini fish and chips, sausage and chips and veggie burgers with chips. The food was enjoyed by all, excellent quality and generous portions sizes.

Next was an auction for a brand new 7 inch tablet (RRP £139.99), kindly donated by volunteer Alyson Coughlan. Laura Mahiques gave the winning bid of £75, a win win for herself and Cats Protection.

Grace Rhodes (winner of Teen Miss Stourbridge 2013) spent the evening selling raffle tickets. The raffle alone raised an impressive £122.60! Cats Protection was very fortunate to be supported by local businesses who donated some great merchandise. The long list of prizes included an assortment of toiletries from Boots Merry Hill, a filter coffee machine from Geoff Hill and a meat hamper worth £30 from John Bood Butcher Ltd and volunteer Michele Cooper (please see acknowledgments below).

Many other prizes were presented during the evening and party music was played through a sound system borrowed from guests Katie Broad and Ash Walford. Emily Butler, Lydia Smyth and Isabelle Butler baked some fabulous cupcakes which all sold for £1 each.

Cats Protection – Stourbridge, Dudley and Wyre Forest Branch would like to thank all those who supported the event by buying tickets, helping to run it or donating money and prizes. The money raised will make a huge difference to cats in our care by enabling the branch to continue purchasing food, medicines, veterinary treatment and more.

Cats Protection would like to thank the following local businesses for supporting the event by kindly donating raffle prizes.
