Volunteer Information Day

01 February 2012
Volunteer Information Day Ever thought about volunteering for Cats Protection? Not sure what's involved, what you can do to help or how much time you can give?

Then come along to our informal Volunteer Information Day and find out more! You'll be able to meet existing volunteers in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere over a cup of coffee and find out more about what's involved.

We'll be happy to chat to you about what your interests are, how much time you have available and how you'd prefer to be involved. We can explain what different roles we have available, how much time they take up and what support we provide. We'll also be very pleased to answer any questions that you may have.

“I’d like to encourage any local people who love cats and would like to help the charity to pop in and see us on the 18th February as it’s a great opportunity to meet existing volunteers and find out more about helping cats in the area,” Rob Hall, Volunteer Branch Co-ordinator for the Branch said.

“Free refreshments are provided and there are lots of different ways to help out. We are looking for help with:
  • Visiting the homes of prospective new cat owners, giving advice and information
  • Sorting and pricing stock at our shop in Stourbridge
  • Helping out at fundraising events by manning stands, talking to members of the public or distributing information
  • Looking after the cats and kittens in our care on a day-to-day basis
  • Trapping feral cats as part of our trap, neuter and return programme
  • Transporting cats to new homes and local veterinary surgeries
  • Making sure that our fosterers are kept supplied with food and litter
  • Giving talks to local groups and schools
  • Taking phone calls from members of he public and providing information and advice
  • Writing letters and sending information to people who would like to remember us in their will

“Volunteering for Cats Protection is a rewarding experience because it gives you the opportunity to be part of a truly worthwhile cause. We gain a lot of satisfaction from giving unwanted cats a second chance in life, as well as working with like-minded people, so if this sounds of interest then please come along and see us!”

You don't have to commit to anything on the day - so if you just want more information and then think about it, please do come and see us.
