Adopt a kitten / cat

When getting in touch particularly by e-mail please make sure that you give your name, full address including postcode, a contact telephone number and if possible an e-mail address as we must have these details to start the adoption process.

Home Visit:

Before you can adopt, you will need to have a short informal home visit by one of our volunteers. This is just to ensure that the cat(s) or kitten(s) we rehome to you will be suited to your home, family and lifestyle. If you live in rented accommodation, you must obtain written consent from your landlord to keep pets at the property.

A guide to our new hands-free homing process:

We’re passionate about finding loving, lasting homes for the cats in our care. During the process of adopting a cat from Wellingborough & Rushden branch, we’ll consider everything from your potential pet’s personality and how this fits with your lifestyle, to your home environment – creating the perfect match for both cat and owner and the start of a wonderful feline friendship.

During lockdown, we introduced hands-free homing, which has been successful in finding many of our cats and kittens brilliant new owners. We’re continuing to rehome our cats virtually, however we may be able to arrange moggy-matching meetings on a case-by-case basis. If you are interested in any of the cats available for adoption from Wellingborough & Rushden branch, please enquire via enquiries@wellingborough.cats.org.uk or call us on: 0345 371 4209.

You can find out more about rehoming and why to adopt from Cats Protection here

We regret we are unable to reserve cats/kittens in our care for more than a few days, if you have any holidays/weekends away booked in the next 3-4 weeks please contact us after these have taken place.

Adoption Fees:
Our adoption fee includes neutering, 1st and 2nd vaccinations, microchip and a health check by our vet prior to adoption.
Our adoption fees are £75 for each cat
 £95 for each kitten
We are continuing to ask for payment via BACs before meeting any cat, if the introduction does not go well, we can normally arrange a refund within 24 hours.

As the work we do costs more than we receive from the adoption fees, any additional donations would be greatly appreciated and used towards helping more cats.
