Fundraising for our branch

Fundraising for the branch is great fun and we get to meet some fantastic people. Astral, our events co-ordinator, checks local websites for fairs that she thinks would be good fundraising events for us to attend.

During the recent summer months, normally a busy time for us, we have attended some very good fairs. We had three in June, including two on the same day! On Saturday 15th June we were at the Welwyn Street Market, where we raised £201.07, and also the Woodhall Community Fun Day which generated £195.80. We also attend the Ludwick Alternative Fair, which is held 3 or 4 times a year - at the last one in June we raised £181.70. We now serve hot drinks, biscuits and cakes at the Ludwick Centre and this has proved to be a very good source of very much needed funds for us. We will be there again on 12th October, so do come along if you’re in the area. We also attended the Friends of the RSPCA event in July where we raised £239.95, and more recently the Ludwick Family Day on the 17th August, which brought in £358.49.

When we attend a fair we normally arrive about an hour before the doors open to set up. We sell Cats Protection merchandise and run a tombola which is always a good crowd-puller as everyone loves a tombola! We also have a selection of cat toys and hand-made goods which are also very popular. Once set up we just enjoy the fair and hope to raise lots of money for all the needy cats and kittens in our care. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer please contact the branch (contact details on the front page). We are also always very grateful for any unwanted gifts or unopened toiletries for our tombola stall and we are happy to collect them from you.
