Snip and chip campaign to help cat owners in Edinburgh and the Lothians

Cat owners on a low income living in Edinburgh and The Lothians are being urged to snip and chip their cats under a new campaign by Cats Protection. The Chip and Snip campaign was launched on Tuesday 20 June, when Christine Grahame MSP tabled a motion calling on the Scottish Parliament to support neutering and microchipping.
The organisation has teamed up with 24 vets across the region to offer the procedures at just £10, instead of the usual cost. There is hope that this will remove financial and other barriers for pet owners on a low income in getting their cat neutered and microchipped.
Sarah Reid, the charity’s Community Neutering Officer said the campaign is building on the success of an earlier neutering scheme in the region which has seen 1,500 owners on a low income have their pet snipped.
