We're standing up for cats in Scotland - find out more about our manifesto

The most recent survey statistics show that across the UK, 25% of the population has a cat – that's an estimated 11.1 million cats.* In Scotland, 23% of households have at least one cat which is an estimated cat population of approximately 900,000.**

Our Manifesto for Cats: Scotland calls for an outright ban on the use of snares as well as making it compulsory to microchip owned cats and including animal welfare in the Scottish Curriculum for Excellence. We're also calling for a review of the law governing pet vending to ensure that those that breed and sell commercially do so under licence.

We want to reduce the number of unwanted kittens and ensure that those kittens that are sold are in good health and old enough to leave their mother.

The full Manifesto for Cats: Scotland was launched at a parliamentary reception in Holyrood in March 2016 aimed at putting the welfare of cats on the agenda ahead of Scotland's elections. It is particularly important that we keep cat welfare on the political agenda.

What can I do?

Together we can help create a better world for cats.

Thank you for your help.
