Lost and Found

Cats are less likely to go missing if they are neutered and kept in during the hours of darkness.

If your cat is missing;

Thoroughly check your property, all rooms, cupboards, under furniture, boxes, household appliances, sheds, garages, vehicles, gardens, bushes. Use a torch at night to catch sight of the cats eyes.
Put some posters up locally, place in shops, garages, post offices. bus stops
Ask locally if anyone has seen your cat
Contact local veterinary practices, your local Cats Protection Branch and any other animal agencies/charities - before calling/emailing make a note of colour, sex, age, if microchipped, if wearing collar, identifying features and date last seen. Please e-mail or post us a photo if possible to go onto our Lost and Found pages.
WHEN YOUR CAT RETURNS DON'T FORGET TO NOTIFY ALL THE PEOPLE YOU HAVE CONTACTED

If you find a cat;

ENSURE THE CAT IS INDEED LOST!
If the cat is friendly & in good condition it may belong to someone. Cats Protection can supply a paper collar so that the owner is alerted to the fact that their cat is straying. Please ask for one when reporting the found cat
Ask neighbours if their cat is missing or if someone has recently moved to the area
Put up posters locally
Ascertain if possible, the sex of the cat and estimate its age. Take note of cat's colour and whether it has a collar
If possible take to a vet to see if it has a microchip
Notify vets, Cats Protection and other animal agencies/charities.
Please offer the cat food and water and some shelter until help arrives
Our Branch is often full to capacity and we can always place details of the cat on our web site, but can rarely collect a cat immediately

We strongly recommend that if you are a cat owner, you get your pet micro-chipped, even if it doesn't usually wander far from the house. It is amazing the circumstances cats go missing but even more disappointing for us, if we are unable to reunite a lost cat with it's owner.
