Success Stories

Suzy is now about 8 months old. She was quite timid to start with and took a little while to bond with us but once she did we found her to be a very affectionate cat. he is very curious about everything and loves jumping up onto the highest cupboards, wardrobes or window sills – she has found some amazing hiding places! She tends to have a couple of mad half-hours each day when she dashes around the house at top speed. At night she sleeps on our bed but tends to want to start playing from 6am onwards and has all sorts of methods of waking us up.

We are really glad we decided to adopt Suzy – she is bringing us a lot of fun. I attach a photo of her taken today.

Suzy

Harry and Dan

Tom (Now renamed Harry Hotspur) and Jerry (Now renamed Dan D. Lion) were the perfect cats for our family. They settled in really quickly – they love sleeping in a basket on top of our tumble dryer, chasing bees in the garden and playing with our daughter. We’re really grateful to everyone at Cats Protection for taking the time to assess our needs and those of Harry and Dan to match us up.

Casper
I was adopted by a lovely family, I have been here a while now. I live with my best friend Dino, the dog; I have 3 females to play with and a big back garden with lots of trees I can climb, I have been up lots of them. When I want my owners to get up I sit on the cupboard and look at them and then I push one thing on the floor then when that doesn’t work I push the rest on the floor and that gets them up. I sit there and look so innocent, other mornings I get onto the bed, get on the pillow and purr and purr and purr and purr. I get fed a lot and am now very big. I have lots of toys to play with and fit in well here. I am so happy in my new home

Caramel and Momo

We have had them for over two weeks now and they have settled in really well and have become very much part of the family. They are just so friendly and trusting, often sitting on one of our laps, usually at the same time which can be a bit of a squash!! They love exploring and playing together and we plan to let them out into the garden soon for more a bit more excitement !! They are an absolute delight and we feel very fortunate to have been able to adopt them.

Betsy
We adopted Betsy (left)about two months ago and she has been a non -stop bundle of fun . She has an amazingly big character for such a little cat and has a really loud purr! She settled into our house with ease she walked around the house the first time like she knew she was home. You’d never guess she had come to the CP under sad circumstances and just had an operation to repair a broken hip! She is just getting to know our other adopted CP cat Nala (below) who has been with us for a year now. She is a very timid cat that is still coming out of her shell which has been really rewarding. They are slowly becoming friends and spend a lot of time chasing each other around the house like mad cats. Adopting them has been a really lovely experience and I would recommend it to anyone as its so rewarding.

Hetty
I cannot thankyou enough for giving us the chance to adopt our little Hetty. she is just so adorable and has settled in well with her two brothers! Mind you Hetty is the only cat I know who doesnt like fish, but loves chicken!

GEORGIE (was Nutnut)

Georgie has settled in well & finally last week managed NVQ level 3 catflap (going out without having it held open). Happily he’s now going outside to the loo except at night – maybe he’s scared of the foxes. I find I no longer need an alarm clock – on the dot of 4.30 am he moves up the bed from our feet to my face and taps me awake – good job I get up at 5

JACK

It is a long time since I sent you all an update on my lovely home but I have been very busy! I am still getting very spoilt by Carrie and Hazel and have a nice collection of toys to play with which I tend to play with at night when they have both gone to bed.  I have been hunting a few times and bought back some presents to Hazel and Carrie which seems to make them happy (but by the look on Hazel's face sometimes I'm not quite sure!!)
I had a lovely Christmas which included lots of presents, food and decorations. Carrie and Hazel put up a lovely tree in the front room for me to climb and there were lots of things I could play with on it.
Anyway, I must get back to sleeping, I have a very busy day ahead of me tomorrow which involves more playing, hunting and sleeping! I hope some of my friends from cats protection have found nice homes just like me! Speak soon! Jack xxx

  MONTY AND MAISIE
We are so pleased with our new home, the people that live here love cats and we are being spoilt.  They have a giant cat TV (the fish tank) and we watch that most evenings.

Our days are spent napping on the bed or having the occasional game of chase.  Food is good too but we feel that is could be a little more frequent and express this complaint daily.  Overall we a really happy here in our new home"

FUDGE AND COCO (was Chocolate)

Here is a picture of Fudge and Chocolate (now Coco), adopted from you in November.  As you will see they are completely at home and definitely lap cats!  We love them to bits and they seem very happy.
I can't understand why people don't like black cats - they are the best!

TINK (was Tinkerbell)

I would just like to thank you for homing me with Andrew and Alexandra.  I've been here four weeks now and I'm making myself right at home. My favourite toy is on an elastic band which makes me jump and run to grab it . I bring the toy into their bedroom early every morning to make sure they know that once I've had breakfast I'm ready to play. I've also got some catnip mice which I've stashed in a secret place and although they've searched and searched they can't find them anywhere. So Andrew got me some more, which are great to chew and play with.I've tried out all the chairs in the living room to see which is most comfy and I love sitting on laps - they know this by my loud purring noises. There are lots of great places to investigate in the house - if they leave a drawer or cupboard open I'm straight in there. I've been out in the garden a couple of times before the snow came, but not for long as its a bit chilly.  I like sitting on windowsills and looking out at the garden.

CLEO (was Gypsy)

We have had our little Cleo (nee Gypsy) for 5 months now, she settled in literally         on her first day at home.We reserved her immediately on seeing her and even though we didn’t have a cat basket, we took her home that same day in her foster mum’s cat basket as we just couldn’t wait to get her home.  She is a delight, running around still like a kitten (even though she is 1 year old).  It’s so lovely to come home to her in the evenings after a long day at work to see her delighted little face looking up and rolling all over the carpet.  Thanks to Anja for fostering her before we took her home, I can’t imagine not having her with us.A big thank you to Cats Protection for letting us have her and continue all the good work.”

GIZMO AND LULU

Gizmo and Lulu are doing really well now. They were a little shy at first, but now are happy rolling over and having their tummys tickled, sitting on our laps and are even becoming good friends themselves. They have a nice garden to go and play in and are making use of the electronic cat-flap we spent two nerve-racking hours fitting into our door!

Two happy little felines :-)

EVIE (was Eve)

We thought we'd let you know how Evie is getting on.
She was extremely shy at first and it took several weeks for her to relax a bit - she still is very shy with some strangers. But when it's just us she seems extremely happy. She has an 'igloo' house in the utility room which she likes to use in warm weather, and a basket - the one in the picture - that she has in the hallway for the winter. Most evenings she
just spends on her favourite cushion on the sofa in the lounge though. She also loves her garden and went crazy the first few times she went outside.
She is the most tummy-tickle cat imaginable!! She rolls around on her back having her tummy tickled. She also loves being groomed so keeping her bits of loose fur under control isn't a problem at all. If she sees one of us using one of those lint-roller things to de-fluff ourselves she gets all jealous and wants it to be used on her. As predicted she is also a lappy cat and loves to cuddle up. We feel extremely fortunate that she came to live with us.
Thank you for all you and your team's help in helping us adopt Evie.

 RAMBO (was Petal)

We adopted Roxy 3 years ago from cats protection- being deaf, she needed a safe, indoors home which we were able to give her.
Our dog Bolly was 13 at the time, and knew how cats worked.  As you can see, they became utterly inseparable. !
Very sadly, Bolly died suddenly, aged 16. Roxy was clearly and immediately very unhappy.  She used to try to see out of the front door to see if Bolly was out there.
We called cats protection to see if there was another deaf cat who might be a good friend for Roxy,
I got a call from Jacky- there was a kitten who would never reach cat size who needed a safe indoors home..
So that's how we were introduced to Rambo (then Petal).
We couldn't believe how tiny she was when we first saw her, and kinda funny looking too, but she was so cute and full of energy!
So, we took her home and slowly introduced them via a puppy cage.
 R
oxy's behavior is back to normal, she is her old, independent self again and is much happier. Rambo has grown a fair bit, she now looks more like a kitten-sized cat and she's not funny looking anymore.
She had a great time over christmas, systematically destroying our christmas tree, still finding baubles in odd places!
She's a great addition to our home, and although the circumstance by which she came to live with us were very sad, we couldn't have a lovelier little kitten.
