ADOPTION PROCESS
If you have thought carefully about adopting a cat and now feel ready to give one of our cats a caring home, it's time to take the next step. We always have a large number of cats that need a new loving home, the age of which can range from 9 wks old upwards with personalities to suit all.
For an up to date look at what cats we have available take a look at our adopt a cat page or visit us at the centre.
The following information explains our adoption process:
- Visit us - The adoption centre is located at Point Road, Carnon Downs, Truro, it is open 7 days a week betwwen 11am - 4pm. No appointment neccessary.
- On arrival—Tell us about the kind of cat you are looking for and a little about yourself, whether you currently have pets or children and the area in which you live. This can all help in deciding whether a cat is suitable.
- Meet the cats - Your welcome to meet the cats that are available and take the opportunity to speak with the staff at the centre about the different cats’ characters. If you find your purr fect pet you can place a reserve on them whilst awaiting your home visit.
- Home Visit—Not every cat will suit your specific environment so we need to carry out a home visit to ensure that we find the right cat for the right home. Home visits are very informal and takes only around 20 - 30 minutes. It is also an opportunity for us to discuss important cat care information and gives you the chance to ask any questions you may have.
- Adoption—Once you've had your home visit, if all is well, you can collect your new family member. As our cat care costs can be in excess of £150 per cat, we do ask that adopters pay a small fee to enable us to carry on helping more cats in need.
We always have a large number of cats on our waiting list needing to come into the centre, unfortunately we can't help everyone straight away due to a limited number of pens.
Re homing from Cats Protection helps to free up a pen, allowing us to help another that's in need in Cornwall.
Thank you for considering adopting a cat or kitten.
