Financial assistance

Financial Assistance Cats Protection helped 176,366 owners with the cost of neutering cats in 2010 and in 2011 it is expected this figure will reach 180,000, representing around a fifth of all neutered in the UK each year. In the 5 years from 2007 to 2011 we have helped with neutering over 800,000 cats.

Neutering is a safe, painless way of controlling the cat population. It also helps reduce your household costs as caring for a mother and kittens is very expensive. Although some owners try and recoup this cost by selling kittens, there are already thousands and thousands of unwanted cats and kittens out there, we don’t need more! Many owners also find that kittens are harder to sell than they first thought.

As the UK’s leading feline welfare charity, we are involved in numerous neutering programmes, working with partner charities, local authorities and individuals to spread the word.

If you need to neuter your cat and cannot afford the cost, we can help. Below you will find links to a number of larger regional schemes – which you can access directly by approaching the listed vets. In other parts of the UK the assistance is provided through local branches and centres, or through our national neutering team.

Please contact us on 03000 12 12 12 for more information or assistance locating your local source of help with cat neutering. Calls will normally take around 5 minutes to complete once connected, in order for our team to guide you to the right source of help.

You can also email for assistance, to neutering@cats.org.uk in which case please provide your full name, full address including postcode, telephone number, and details of the number and sexes of the cats you would like neutered. You will also need to advise us of any state benefits you receive, and advise us of your total household income per month. It may also speed up the process if you already know the price charged for neutering by the vets in your area. If you would prefer not to provide this information by email, you can still call us on 03000 12 12 12 instead.
