HOMING A KITTEN OR CAT
Please think very carefully before deciding to give a home to a cat or kitten as owning a pet is a long-term commitment.
Whilst we all adore the sight of a cute little ball of fur, kittens require lots of attention and an inquisitive kitten is likely to get into mischief if he/she get bored whilst you are out - you may return home to find that he/she has caused damage to your furniture or has been climbing your curtains in your absence!
On the other hand, older cats can be quieter and generally more sensible than kittens or young cats. They tend to be used to household life, know the ground rules of living with people and are more content to spend their time watching the world go by. With adult and older cats the character of the cat tends to be more evident allowing you to select a cat that suits your lifestyle. Many will be happy wandering around the garden and are less inclined to roam around the neighbourhood for long periods of time. HOMING
All our cats/kittens available for re-homing are:
- Neutered (applies also to kittens over 5/6 months)
- Fully health-checked
- Insured (free) for four weeks with Pet Plan
- Fully flea and worm treated
The expense of the above often amounts to approximately £160 per cat plus the cost of day-to-day expenses such as food and litter. Therefore we ask for an adoption fee of £60 for a single cat and £100 for a pair (although other branches may charge more) to help cover these costs. Cats Protection provide more information about adoption in this handy leaflet
We have strict guidelines when homing cats and kittens. The home of each prospective owner is visited by one of our home visitors. Home visits are vital to assess what type of cat would settle best in a particular home. It is also an excellent opportunity for prospective owners to discuss any concerns they may have about adopting a cat or kitten and for the branch to provide relevant support.
After a successful home visit, you will then be invited to visit the cats or kittens that reside in our foster homes within the Glasgow area.
If you would like to offer a home to one or more of our rescued cats or kittens there are a number of ways you can get in touch. You could call us on 0345 371 2722
