Macclesfield Cats Protection is seeking fosterers to join their team of volunteers

As a Cats Protection fosterer you will provide a cat with temporary accommodation before a forever home is found.  As well as taking in cats from homes, Cats Protection also helps to find homes for stray cats.  As a fosterer you will take care of a cat’s everyday needs including maintaining minimum veterinary and cat care standards, cleaning and looking after the cat’s environment and equipment, feeding, grooming, taking the cat for various vet appointments, administering certain medication such as flea and worm treatment, spending time enriching the cats’ experience in care including play, exercise and stroking and introducing the cat to prospective adopters.

You will need to have a suitable spare room within your home that can be used solely for the purposes of fostering and, ideally, you need to have your own transport.  A virtual or in person visit will be carried out by a member of the Welfare Team to assess your suitability and, if successful, you will be required to complete an online fosterer induction training course, an induction session with a Cats Protection representative, sign a Fostering Agreement Form and complete various other training modules.  Cats Protection will provide you with all the equipment you need to carry out the role including copies of cat care guides and other relevant information.

If you already own cats, they must be vaccinated, neutered and treated for fleas and worms.  This is for their own protection in addition to helping protect vulnerable foster cats. Your own cats are not permitted to mix with Cats Protection foster cats.

If you are interested in fostering for Macclesfield Cats Protection, please complete a contact form on our Contact Us page or call us on 01625 801 802, leaving a message in box 4.

We look forward to hearing from you!
