Welcome to Cats Protection - Ferndown Homing Centre
Ferndown Homing Centre is a purpose built facility that rehomes cats & kittens directly from local branches in Dorset, Hampshire & Wiltshire. We opened in May 2010 and so far have found loving new homes for over 1000 cats & kittens.
We are the first Homing Centre for Cats Protection. A homing centre differs from an Adoption Centre, in that we only takes in cats that are ready to be homed, from the following branches - Bournemouth, Southampton, Salisbury, Blandford & Sturminster & Frome. We do not take in cats directly from the public. These branches have a chain of fosterers who work all over the country, taking in cats from the public, strays and ferals, and help these cats become fit, healthy and ready for homing. The cats then come to us to find a new family that will come and fall in love with them!
At the centre we have a homing wing with 24 pens, 22 of which can house a pair of cats or a litter of 4 kittens, and 2 family pens that can hold a family group of 4-5 cats and a maximum of 8 kittens. We also have an isolation suite and a holding suite that are not open to the public.
The cats at Ferndown Homing Centre are cared for by a dedicated team of staff and volunteers, until loving new homes are found for them. Please visit the centre to meet our team and the cats. You can also find out more about volunteering at the centre by calling the Telephone number on our 'Contact Us' page.
JANUARY 2012 - 1000TH CAT REHOMED!!
We are celebrating here at the centre the fact that we have just homed our 1000th cat since we opened our doors in May 2010 (our official open day was in July 2010)
Gorgeous 1 year old Daisy, who was born with only half a tail, came to the centre at the beginning of January 2012 via our Southampton Branch. She has been a real character and popular with staff and volunteers for her playfulness.
No longer wanted by her previous owner, Daisy was desperate for a new home and after being at the centre for only a couple of weeks her wish came true when Mrs Harding of Salisbury fell in love with her and decided to adopt her.
Pictured here is Daisy with her new Mum.
Mrs Harding has reported that Daisy is settling in really well in her new home.
We wish them many long, happy years together.
