  • 10K events – minimum age 14
  • Half marathons – minimum age 16
  • Marathons and Ultras – minimum age 18
Fitness level
  • You  don’t need to be an elite runner, but you should be comfortable running or walking the event distance on mixed terrain
  • The routes are off-road with steep climbs, descents, mud, and uneven paths. Good hill-walking fitness is helpful
Solo or team
  • All distances (except the Classic Quarter Ultra relay) are solo runs
  • The Classic Quarter Ultra can be done: Solo – the full 44 miles / Relay pairs – roughly half each / Relay quads – about 11 miles each
Experience
  • 10K and half marathon options are suitable for newcomers to trail running
  • Marathons and ultras are recommended for runners with prior long-distance or multi-hour hiking experience
Equipment
  • Trail shoes recommended (grip for mud, wet rock, and sand)
  • Certain events require compulsory kit (for example, waterproof jacket, survival blanket, headtorch for ultras)
  • Kit checks happen at registration
Any other important information?

Safety and support
  • Fully waymarked routes and staffed checkpoints mean runners are never on their own, even in remote spots
  • Water/aid stations are provided at set intervals but participants often carry their own snacks/water
  • First aid teams are on hand along the course
Post-race perks
  • All finishers receive a medal (and sometimes event goodies)
  • Many events end near local pubs or cafés, making for a cosy, celebratory atmosphere
Environmental commitment
  • Endurancelife has an eco-conscious ethos, aiming to minimise event waste and protect the coastal landscapes they use.
How much do I need to raise?

We ask you to aim for a target of £200 sponsorship commitment to help make better lives for cats.
There is no registration fee when you sign up to run for Cats Protection.

How we are helping cats right across the South West region

Cats Protection plays a crucial role in improving the lives of all cats across the South West, including the often-overlooked feral cat population. The South West is home to an estimated 0.9 million cats, with a significant number of feral cats living in communities, often struggling to find food, shelter, and proper care. We provide vital support for all cats, offering food, shelter, and veterinary care to help support them before finding their forever home

When you sign up, our event leader will be notified and be in touch with you.

You’ll get a first-class experience including:

  • dedicated and bespoke support and encouragement from us, who will be there with you every step of the way

  • practical fundraising support
  • access to our exclusive Facebook community of Cat Champions, where you’ll connect with other cat lovers, exchange ideas, tips and advice
