Welcome to Cats Protection Northampton Branch
We're here to support cats and kittens in the areas of Northampton, Daventry, Towcester and the surrounding villages, covering postcodes: NN1, NN2, NN3, NN4, NN5, NN6, NN7, NN11 and NN12.
Run by a small team of dedicated, cat-loving volunteers, we're passionate about improving the lives of cats and kittens in Northampton, Daventry and Towcester, working to find loving new homes for local cats in our care and lost and found cats, as well as general education and awareness within these areas.
Important information regarding cat admissions and rehoming
Rescue organisations and vets across The Midlands are noticing higher than usual levels of Feline Parvovirus in circulation. To safeguard the cats in our care and to prevent further transmission of the virus across the region we are taking precautions around intake and rehoming of cats which may mean our wait times are longer than usual. Please do not bring your cat to the branch until you are contacted by us to make arrangements.
Feline Parvovirus is highly contagious with a high mortality rate. If your cat shows any signs of being unwell (including, but not limited to, vomiting, diarrhoea, lethargy, high fever and a loss of appetite), please contact your nearest vet and do not bring your cat to the branch.
To help protect your cat against this virus, and to enable us to help you more speedily - please ensure your cat is up to date with vaccines and boosters.
For further information about Feline Parvovirus visit www.cats.org.uk/feline-parvovirus and for details about the importance of vaccinating see www.cats.org.uk/vaccinations
Neutering
Please note that the £10 neutering scheme is no longer available and so our local vets are not able to offer this option. Unfortunately, neutering vouchers are severely limited so applications with proven eligibility will be placed on a waiting list.
Eligibility criteria
• Means-tested benefits: universal credit, income support, housing benefit, council tax benefit, pension credit, income-based Employment and Support Allowance (ESA), income-based Jobseeker's Allowance (JSA), working tax credits and child tax credits
• Benefits not eligible under this scheme: personal independence allowance/payment, child benefit, disability living allowance, attendance allowance, carer’s allowance
• A household annual income of less than £25,000 before tax
For eligible cat owners who would like to enquire if any neutering vouchers are available, please ring our helpline on 0344 700 3251. We also welcome enquiries about joining our fundraising team so that we can help more people to neuter their cats.
