Association of Secretaries puts the FUN in fundraising

The Association of Secretaries takes fundraising to a whole new level for North Birmingham Cats Protection. Secretary and Membership Secretary, Sue Morgan, pokes fun at the group's 'ridiculously old-fashioned' title, but their efforts are nothing to joke about. Although membership is declining with only fifteen members remaining, they raised an impressive £360 at a car boot sale near Curborough last August in which members all donated loot to raise funds.

Further, they've come up with another cute and smart way to put the FUN in fundraising. They use Smarties tubes to collect 20 pence coins. They purchase the tubes at low cost and resell them full of the sweets for 30p. They then ask members to refill them with 20 pence coins. When full, each tube holds about £15, which ends up raising quite a lot.

They are certainly doing something right. The Birmingham Branch of the Association of Secretaries just presented North Birmingham Cats Protection with a donation of £700. A very generous donation, indeed, and the result of hard work, creative innovation and inspiring generosity. Our heartfelt gratitude is with you!

If you're a member of a community group and fancy putting your heads together for a good cause, CP would love to hear from you. We can also provide speakers to come and Cat Chat to your group about the work of Cats Protection.
