Collingwood Centre Summer Fayre a sunshine success ...

Saturday the 22 June saw the sun shining on the righteous at the Cats Protection Summer Fayre – and to prove how generous the visitors and supporters were the event raised over £900!

The fund-raising and ‘lets-get-together’ day was held at the Collingwood Centre and put together by CP committee members, volunteers and supporter Lorraine Bradford over several months. “And” say coordinators Jane and Nicole “dedicated volunteers pulled out all the stops to make the day a great success – but there are dozens more stallholders, supporters and visitors to thank too for a fantastic day.

“So, a big thank you to everyone who helped support and man the event, and those who came along and spent their money – beit on the CP tables, buying jams and cakes, and/or on the other interesting range of diverse stalls, helping small local businesses get their names and wares 'out there' with the public.

North Birmingham Cats Protection – and needy cats and kittens – including the ferals of Walsall Road Allotments - are now £900+ better off - thanks to the summer fayre held at the Collingwood Centre in June.

Adds Nicole: “The funds raised from the plant sales – the table hosted by a stuffed stand-in for Robert the famed Walsall Road allotments cat – was, understandably, donated to his WRA feral moggie-mates. So that swelled their vet fund by over £300. It’s a special feline fund managed by Robert’s ‘significant other’ Betty, the secretary of WRA. As almost everyone knows, Robert himself has thousands of followers from all over the world on Twitter and FB, since his campaign ‘saved’ Walsall Road Allotments from the bull-dozers. And it’s the kind plot-holders spare fruit and veg that goes into making Jenny’s renowned jams.

“We were even able to help another local cat charity - Team Cat Rescue – donating coordinator Lynne Buffery several unsold cat-themed goodies to sell at their next Swan Centre table-top sale in mid July - so even more cats will be helped by the amazing efforts of everyone involved.”
