'Direct' home-to-home for Sonia's Speckles

17 September 2022

Here at Cats Protection we try to help in every which way we can – to rescue cats and find them happy new homes. And one of the ways we do this is via our ‘Direct Rehoming Scheme’. And just lately, this has been so successful that every cat who has appeared on the page this year has now ‘disappeared’ to a new home! And the latest lonely lad to be adopted is Speckles. And he – and his finder/carer Sonia – have quite a back story.

Sonia of Handsworth found an injured black and white stray in her garden and – after support and vet care for him from the RSPCA – has just had him adopted via the CP scheme. And she has sent her grateful thanks to Sheila, who runs and creates the write-ups for that page.

“Thanks as always Sheila - you are a great support, wonderful at connecting with not only cats but people too like myself. I will definitely make some time in the future to meet you to show my gratitude for all the kindness, knowledge, humour, support you have provided to me with Speckles – now in his wonderful new home – thanks to you and the CP direct rehoming scheme.”

Says Sheila, who has been editing the CP direct page for several years: “It was good to help Sonia. We’d promoted Speckles with before and after pictures, but what’s best is the happiest photo of all – the day Sonia saw him off to his new home. The adopters viewed on the 13th Sept and Speckles went off on the 14th. Some goodbyes are sad, but when we help move cats into happy new homes, we’re all happy. Which is why Sonia is smiling so beautifully!”
