Hope and three kittens make for a merry-moggie Christmas ..

'Hope' – and three kittens – make for a very merry-moggie Christmas ..

Christmas is lovingly likely to be a very happy time for cat-keen couple Tracey and Adam of Solihull. After planning to view and adopt one cat they’d spotted on the North Birmingham website, they returned home with a bouncing bundle of four!

Sadly, the couple's 20-year-old much-missed puss went peacefully off to Rainbow Bridge in late Autumn, leaving a space in their home and their hearts. But then they saw a somewhat forlorn youngster - Hope - on the CP website. She was a young Mum with a remaining litter of 3.

Says Tracey: "I saw Hope and toyed with the possibility of a Mum and one kitten, but on viewing discovered she had four - but one was spoken for. Well, we went along to view and instantly fell in love with Hope. As for the kittens, we knew we wanted one but which one? How could we choose? I loved Herbie (now re-named Henry) who seemed a big character and has proved to be so! And Adam loved Hugo - so a dilemma. But if we chose those two, we'd be leaving little sister-sibling Harper behind and on her own. Well, it was quickly decided that four was the magic number!  They all have wonderful personalities. Hope is now full of fun and starts the 'game of chase for everyone' every night around 11pm!"

Nicole, branch coordinator and a fosterer, could ‘hardly believe it when these lovely people came along’. “I explained that Hope was ‘reserved/timid in her nature’ but felt that in the right home she’d soon be a purry and friendly feline. And Tracey and Adam were still keen - and happy to give Hope the time she needed to come around. Imagine my surprise when they said they'd taken it all on board and they’d like to adopt all four!  A record rehoming for me in my 15 years of volunteering!"

And Tracey? knowing what she knows now, says she would still 'take all 4 in a heartbeat: they've each stolen a special place in our hearts and we wouldn't give them up for the world.'

CP hopes 'Hope' springs eternal for the Solihull Six - way beyond Christmas and the New Year!
