Purrfection wins by one point ...

A ‘microphone malfunction’ meant a dodgy start to the Cats Protection February pub quiz – but was soon sorted and a good night was had by all – and raised £276 for needy cats and kittens in North Birmingham.

Stalwart volunteer Sue Morgan was on duty and says that although ‘it was quieter than usual, ten teams took part, Jenny’s jams sold well, and Kathy juggled selling Simon's Cat Badges and CP bags-for-life with organising the raffle. The winning team was 'Purrfection' by just one point, and best team name was won by 'The Meowdy-Gras' (based on Mardi Gras).’

Homing Officer Elaine Berry and her team ‘Give the Cat a Home’ missed the first prize by just one point. Says Elaine: “Changing the name of the duck in the bird round was where we went wrong. You could say that ‘Eider’ rather let us down!”

Fortunately, the quiz night itself was anything but a let down. Prizes for the winners, wooden spoons for the losers (Kitty Kitty Bang Bang!), and cash for the cats.

The valiant volunteers would like to thank all the quizzers, the Digby staff who looked after everyone, and Adam the compere. Paws crossed for another great night in sunny May!
