Shot Pregnant Cat

20 April 2020
Shot Pregnant Cat Many of you may have read Hopes story on Facebook but for those of you who are not on there this is little Hopes story as told by Seadown Vets in Hythe.

Hope was found having been shot 3 times and left in a garden, pregnant and alone! She gave birth on the 13th April and has now become a little super star! We have set up a just giving page to allow people to donate to her further treatment she will need.

You'll be pleased to know that Hope and her kittens are doing really well and their story is being told by quite a few of the papers (Sunday Express last week and soon The Mail and all our own local media as well as the veterinary press) which is a great way to gain awareness about the horrific shooting of cats with air guns.

Air guns desperately need to be licensed in England and Wales, in line with existing legislation in other parts of the UK. Did you know that in the past 5 years over 800 cats in the UK have been reported in the press as being shot with an air gun?

Hope is one of the very lucky ones, having been found by kind Sarah Barker and expertly operated by our own Emma Owen and the team here at Seadown.

The photos and video below were taken by Cats Protection where Hope and the 4 kittens are now being so well cared for.
Anyone wishing to offer Hope and the kittens a loving forever home should keep an eye on the Southampton branch’s website www.cats.org.uk/southampton where their details will be posted as soon as they can be homed.

The Cats Protection also has a live petition on air gun licensing which can be signed by visiting: www.cats.org.uk/airgunspetition
