Petition against shooting of Scottish cats trapped by mistake in Wildcat conservation project

01 May 2016
Petition against shooting of Scottish cats trapped by mistake in Wildcat conservation project Cats Protection are disgusted at the recent decision by Scottish National Heritage to allow the RZSS/Scottish Wildcat Action to shoot any cats trapped in Scotland that aren't actually wildcats.  We are all for the conservation of this endangered species but if a feral cat or domestic cat are accidently trapped in this process they SHOULD NOT BE SHOT as a means of humanely dispatching them!  Domestic cats could be scanned for chips & reunited with owners, and ferals can be neutered and re-released thus posing no threat to the wildcat through cross-mating.  Glasgow branch have started a petition against this action and we ask all our supports to sign the petition.  With sufficient signatures, these petitions are automatically debated by MP's.
