Young girl raises cash for Cats Protection after loss of her cat

Ten year old Grace Batley from Devon has become an inspiration in her local community after raising money for Cats Protection’s Exeter Axehayes Adoption Centre.

Grace had the idea to raise money for the charity after the sad death of her own cat over two months ago. Her mum, Annabel says: “Initially she wanted to get a new cat and saw one that looked identical waiting to be rehomed at Cats Protection. She decided she was going to fundraise and go on a mission to get the £60 for the adoption fee, but found out that the cat couldn’t be rehomed.”

Grace still continued to fundraise for the Adoption Centre, hoping to raise money for the cats in the charity’s care. Along with her friends, Mia and Xavier, she sold sweets to people in her local community. They raised £45.50 and visited the Adoption Centre last week to hand over the money.

Annabel added: “They will continue to raise funds and will be helping to make cakes and collect raffle prizes for the Easter coffee morning planned at the centre.”
