Volunteering

ADMIN ASSISTANT
We're looking for some voluntary admin help for the branch (not a hands on 'cat position', unfortunately!) The work could easily be fitted in during evenings or weekends if you work full-time. The main help needed is:

Cat Cuddler Rota - contacting people who have expressed an interest to see if they would be suitable and visiting the Cattery with them. Updating the rota list.

Newsletter - coordinating with the person who produces this, to advise of the date it's needed by and suggesting any articles (but all the committee members help with content). Then liaising with the printers and mailing them out - stamped envelopes & address labels are provided.

Annual social event - help with finding a venue (with suggestions from the committee) and sending the invites out, then taking the meal deposits and keeping a note of meal choices for those attending, and liaising with the pub/restaurant about numbers & menu choices. We also have a committee meeting once every 6-8 weeks.

Please email midsussexcp@outlook.com with your details if interested.

CAT CUDDLERS

To ensure the cats we have ready for homing are kept socialised and used to a variety of people, we have a regular rota of 'cat cuddlers' who visit Cuckfield Cattery once a week (for anything up to two hours) to sit with the cats, play with them and/or cuddle them.

We currently have a vacancy for Monday afternoon (between 3pm-5pm), so if you can commit to volunteer on a weekly basis (and have your own transport because of the rural location), please let us have your contact details and we will be in touch.

(This isn't a volunteer role you can bring young children along to, unfortunately.)

Please email midsussexcp@outlook.com with your details if interested.

Administration Volunteer

Thousands of cats each year rely on the help of animal charities because they have been abandoned, they have strayed or because there has been a change in their owner’s circumstances. Becoming an administration volunteer is just one way you can help improve the lives of cats in your local community. Our administration volunteers help provide vital support to our volunteer groups and teams across Cats Protection. They help keep up to date records of the number of cats that have been rehomed, collate supporter details and send out newsletters. This could be the perfect volunteer role if you have administrative experience, a passion for cats, or both!

Social media volunteer

Social media and cats go hand in hand, and our social media volunteers use their passion and knowledge of social media to promote the activities of local volunteer groups and teams though various channels. This is a volunteer role that can be done from home, on the train or even from the sofa! Our social media volunteers directly help our feline friends by helping raise awareness of Cats Protection.  A higher profile can help us raise the funds we need for our work, ensure people know they can adopt a cat from us, help promote neutering and help as many people as possible learn more about feline welfare.

Volunteer publicity team leader

Our publicity team leaders have the important role of supporting a wider team of publicity volunteers. As a team our publicity volunteers collectively keep members of the public informed of the vital and varied ways we help our feline friends in need. Raising awareness is crucial to us being able to help the thousands of cats and kittens each year that rely on us. A higher profile can help raise funds, raise awareness of adopting a cat, promote neutering and encourage as many people as possible to learn about feline welfare.
