Cats Protection is holding its fifth National Black Cat Day on Tuesday 27 October to highlight the plight of the monochrome moggies.
Charity statistics show that black cats take 13 per cent longer to rehome than a tabby, tortoiseshell or ginger. According to Cats Protection, the myth that black cats are unlucky seems to be gaining more credence with the younger generation.
