Preston Branch and Coronavirus

19 March 2020
These are not normal times.

We have been advised by Cats Protection nationally that we can no longer take in or rehome cats. This is to protect our volunteers, many of whom are over 70. The cats that are currently in our care are safe and will be well looked after. Any adoptions that are in the pipeline will go ahead, but we will not be able to take in cats that are on our waiting list.

We will be writing to everyone on our waiting list with advice.

We very much hope that these are temporary measures and we can get back to normal as soon as possible.

We will continue to issue neutering vouchers, and advice leaflets where necessary.

We will not be able to give educational talks.

Our Penwortham shop will remain open, but with reduced hours (10 - 4 every day).

The national Pets at Home / Cats Protection fundraising event at the end of March has been amended, the stores will still be asking for donations at the till, but branch volunteers have been advised not to attend.

It looks like most of our fundraising events over the next few months will be cancelled.

We are obviously distressed and anxious about this disruption in our ability to help local cats and kittens. We are all volunteers and we very much look forward to the relaxation of these rules.
