Boston Cats Protection at Community Showcase

On 11 September 2011 Boston and District Cats Protection branch took part in the Boston Community Showcase in Boston's Central Park.

Boston Community Showcase is an annual community event designed to bring the community together, provide free family entertainment and raise the local community’s awareness of voluntary and community groups in the local area. The event brings thousands of people together from all different backgrounds, nationalities and enables everyone to experience and learn about the various activities that are taking place within the community and voluntary sector in Boston.

The weather managed to hold off, it was sunny but rather breezy.  Our stall was in the marquee and we were joined by a large friendly cat costume, called Homer. Homer greeted many children and families throughout the day, putting a smile on many children’s faces, giving children goody bags and stickers. Homer made many friends and had lots of photos taken, including the local police authority and Boston College. Homer, whilst taking a break, received a massage from the hair and beauty section of Boston College! We also had many different games, fundraising activities and information available during the event for Cats Protection.

Thanks to everybody’s support, we had a great day and raised money to help cats in the Boston area; we hope to see you there next year.
