Adoption Day was a success but Smudge still needs a home

Adoption Day was a success but Smudge still needs a home

Thank you to everyone who attended our Adoption Day on Sunday 26th June – including the volunteers who helped run the stalls and look after our cats and kittens.

Although less people attended than normal all the kittens and cats found new homes – excepting one -and we raised a significant amount for our funds.

We would also like to thank several people for very generous donations. One young lady came alone to present us with a donation which she raised from a Bake Sale and chose us as her charity. Another family contributed on behalf of their late father, Herbert, who was originally not a cat lover but eventually – as often happens - a cat convert.

And finally, the news on the boy left behind – Smudge.  Although a lot of people fell in love with him on the day – as did many online - nobody felt able to give him a home at the time.  However, there were multiple shares of, and  comments on, our posts ( which boosted its visibility ) and consequently there were several people interested in adopting after seeing he had been left behind.  These shares resulted in the branch receiving an incredibly generous donation from someone who is a Cats Protection supporter living elsewhere in the country whose heart had been touch by Smudge – so thank you to those who shared the post too.

As it turned out two people at the event made it their mission to look for a new home for him amongst their friends – and we actually received two offers of excellent homes for him from their efforts.  Having met his new owner – Smudge will be off to his new home later this week.

Happy furrever home Smudge.
