Did you know that St Albans Cats Protection not only rehomes cats, but also supports Feral Cat Colonies in our area?
Over the past year, the number of colonies that we support have gone from one to four. Feral or semi-feral cats (not to be confused with strays) are cats that are born to outside and have had little or no human interaction over their lives. Feral females are very good at hiding their kittens, and that's when a colony quickly expands unless we get involved at the right time.

We help these colonies by:
Neutering
Heath check
FeLV/FIV testing
Flea/worm treatment
Controlling colony size by relocating cats to suitable locations under our "House a Mouser" scheme
And most importantly by providing food.

We do not receive funding for feral cats (other than for specific neutering costs), and no longer have designated donation points in local pet shops (even though we are the only rescue based in St Albans). These shops are currently supporting other rescues so we are asking for your help.

How can you help?

In order that we don't divert funds and food away from the cats in foster care, we are asking for your help by either:
Donating cash to Feral Food and use the reference Feral Food
or

Donating cat food to us - please contact fundraising@stalbans.cats.org.uk  to arrange collection/ drop off.
