Now in its 33rd year, Volunteers' Week is an annual celebration of volunteering across the UK and an opportunity for volunteer involving organisations to celebrate the huge contribution and positive impact volunteers make.
The importance of volunteers within Cats Protection cannot be overestimated. Set up by a group of volunteers reacting to injustices they had seen in their community and beyond, this year sees Cats Protection celebrating 90 years of working to change the lives of cats and kittens and people for the better!
The number of cats we've helped is thanks in no small part to the tireless passion and commitment from our volunteers all over the UK who by give their gift of time to help cats in a wide variety of roles within branches, adoption centres, shops, our volunteer groups such as education, neutering, health and safety and administration and of course our Trustees and Advisory Council. Everything we achieve is only possible due to our volunteers, their invaluable links to local communities, their experience, knowledge and skills and everything they bring to Cats Protection.
In the last year our volunteers and staff have:
- rehomed and reunited 46,000 cats and kittens
- reached an audience of over 41,000 people through education talks
- neutered over 150,000 cats
- raised £55.5 million in funds to help cats
- provided support and guidance in response to approximately 25,000 queries
While our beneficiaries have their own way of thanking our volunteers with a slow purr or friendly head bump, the huge value of our volunteers is also recognised within and outside of the charity. As we approach the milestone of 10,000 volunteers actively involved in helping cats across the UK with Cats Protection; we want to say a massive thank you to all our volunteers, past and present, for all you do to help our feline friends. Your time truly does make a big difference to cats and kittens across the UK
