Adopt A Cat

A guide to adopting a cat or kitten via our branch:

*Cats available via our branch are listed below*
*Cats who looking for a home, but not in Cats Protection's care are listed under 'Alternative homing'.

  • Enquire: If you’ve found a cat from our listing below that you’re interested in homing, please send an enquiry by filling out the 'Contact us about this cat' button at the bottom right hand side of the page. We will be in touch with you in due course to discuss your situation and see if the cat is a suitable match for you. If you live in rented accommodation, you'll be asked for written consent from your landlord that we are permitted to home a cat to the property. Alternatively you can contact our enquiry line on 01970 822120. We also advertise cats on our Facebook page, see here
  • Reserve your cat: Once a suitable match has been found, we'll send you  our bank details to enable you to pay the adoption fee by bank transfer. The fee is £85 for kittens (less than 6 months old), £65 for an adult cat. This includes a vet check, 1st vaccinations, flea and worm treatment and neutering.
  • Adopting your cat.  Once this is finalised, we’ll arrange for you to collect (or us to deliver) your cat. There is lots of useful advice on our website to help you get ready for your new feline here
  • Be supported after adoption.  After adoption, we'll be in touch either by phone or email to see how your cat or kitten is settling in. You can also find help and advice on the Cats Protection website at www.cats.org.uk/advice
