WELCOME TO CATS PROTECTION CENTRAL DUMFRIES

Our Branch was set up in October 1998 and since then a dedicated band of volunteers has tried to make life a bit better for stray, abandoned and unwanted cats and kittens in our area.

We cover postcodes DG1 and part of DG2, and our area is bordered by Caerlaverock, Cargenbridge, Dunscore, Auldgirth, Parkgate and Collin. Our Branch borders with Annandale & Eskdale Branch to the east and Stewartry Branch to the west.

New Neutering Scheme

All neutering vouchers are now issued by the vets.  They are still cat protection vouchers & cover neutering & microchipping, as long as the vets have signed up with HQ, for £10 per cat

As of yet we're not sure exactly what vets have signed up in the Dumfries area & have vouchers. Calling the number 0300 121212 should be able to help direct you.

Adoption Information

Please note that we can currently only rehome in our local branch area.
We roughly cover Collin to Caelaverock to Parkgate to Dunscore and to Cargerbridge (DG1 & part of DG2)

Please do check our Facebook Page as well as our website as sometimes cats get rehomed before they make it onto the website.

Home 'Visits' will be done over the phone, cats can only be viewed online and will be delivered to their new home by a Cats Protection volunteer. As we have to leave the cat carrier with the cat, our adoption fee has had to increase to £100 per cat and £120 per kitten to cover the cost of the basket & blanket. The adoption fee has to be paid direct into our bank account by BACS.

If there are no cats showing on our website yet please check our Facebook page here.

Volunteering for Cats Protection

We are looking for more volunteers to help with fundraising.
We are a self-funding branch and reliant on fundraising and donations so if you have the time to help with fundraising please let us know.

Food Bank Cat Food

We are now supplying food to about 8 food banks on a monthly basis, so that, hopefully, people will not have to give up their cats because they can't afford to feed them. We have seen a massive increase in the amount of food being given out.
