The Rehoming Process
When you come to the Adoption Centre for the first time, we ask you to fill in a Home Finder questionnaire telling us about yourself, your family, home and lifestyle & informing you of some of Cats Protections policies & procedures.
Where houses are rented we will need to see a tenancy agreement/letter from your landlord confirming a cat/kitten is allowed in the premises and this would need to be presented before you can take a cat/kitten home. You can then have a look around the centre & using your answers to the questionnaire, hopefully find the perfect match for your family.
If you find a cat/kitten that you think will suit you, return to reception where a cat care assistant can discuss your choice with you and introduce you to your potential new family member. This is the opportunity to ask any questions you may have. Depending on the cat, you may need to visit them a few times so you can get to know each other. We may arrange a home visit too, although this is not always necessary.
WE MUST SEE SOME FORM OF ID WITH AN ADDRESS BEFORE WE CAN HOME TO YOU, this can be in the form of a driving licence, recent utility bill or similar. Please note passports and debit/credit cardsare not acceptable as they do not have an address.
Please note we ask that any cats/kittens are collected within 7 days of a final decision being made. This allows us to offer space to the many other needy cats waiting to come into our care.
Bearing in mind the treatment all cats/kittens have received the Adoption Centre asks adopters for a fee of £64.00 when rehoming a cat. If you feel able to make a donation on top of the fee that would, of course, be gratefully received. We know times are hard so thank you for your decision to rehome a CP cat!
Appointments are not necessary for viewing, you can just turn up during our opening hours (see Contact Us page). Please contact the adoption centre if you have a cat you need to rehome to discuss pen availability as we are unable to take cats in without an appointment.
If you wish to come and see a specific cat, please ring before travelling to confirm that cat is still available and to avoid disappointment.
We often have kittens available for rehoming at this time of year, although they do not always appear on the website as they are homed very quickly. Please ring the Adoption Centre for details.
Why not visit our sister centre and see the cats for rehoming there as well? www.dereham.cats.org.uk
