Adopting a cat from us
During the lockdown restrictions surrounding the coronavirus (COVID-19) we are trialling a new hands-free homing approach so that we can continue to rehome cats in our care. PLEASE NOTE: the centre team is still working on reduce numbers for the foreseeable future, so enquiry response times may take longer than we would usually like. Thank you for your patience.
All the cats currently available for adoption are listed below. We’ll advertise cats on our website with the addition of a video for each cat. This will allow our adopters to get a better idea of the cat’s personality. Adopt with Confidence, our usual policy of openness and honesty still stands – we’ll ensure you’re aware of any medical or behavioural concerns, and we will carefully assess each and every match before deciding whether the home is suitable.
If you’re interested in adopting one of these cats from us, please click on their profile and complete a form by clicking on the yellow ‘Contact us about this cat’ button at the bottom of their page. This is the only way in which we are taking cat enquiries at the moment. Please consider the cat’s specific personality and requirements and if they match you and your home, before submitting your interest. We often have a range of cats and kittens in our care with differing needs, our staff will be happy to tell you all about the cats, so that the one you choose will be right for you and your home.
Where houses are rented we will need to see a tenancy agreement/letter from your landlord confirming a cat/kitten is allowed in the premises and this would need to be presented before you can take a cat/kitten home & within our reserve period. Please note that some housing associations can take up to 3 weeks to get written permission to you.
WE HAVE HAD A NUMBER OF DISAPPOINTED ADOPTERS LET DOWN AFTER THEIR LANDLORDS/HOUSING ASSOCIATION FAILED TO GET THEIR PERMISSION TO THEM WITHIN THE RESERVE PERIOD AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO ADOPT THEIR CHOSEN CAT. THEREFORE WE STRONGLY URGE YOU TO GET YOUR WRITTEN PERMISSION FROM YOUR LANDLORD OR HOUSING ASSOCIATION BEFORE MAKING AN ENQUIRY.
If we think you’re a match, we’ll give you a call or email you to discuss the cat. At this stage we will ask for proof of your address and landlord consent (if applicable). Once this has been received we can reserve the cat for you and we’ll arrange for an Adoption appointment call where you’ll be provided with full information about the cat. If you would prefer to do this via a WhatsApp video call please let us know.
Once the reservation has been placed, we’ll send you the cat’s paperwork via email for you to review and sign. We will be able to finalise the Adoption once this paperwork is received and the Adoption fee has been paid.
The paperwork consists of a Medical Summary, Adoption Form, and PetPlan Terms for your free one month of insurance cover. During your telephone Adoption appointment we will talk through this paperwork and discuss settling your new friend into their home. Arrangements will be made for you to pay the £80 adoption fee by card payment over the phone. We are unable to take any other method of payment at this time. There will also be options to purchase supplies, join our membership scheme and make a donation. Once this is complete, we’ll book a delivery appointment for a team member to come and deliver your new cat(s), ensuring compliance at all times with Government guidelines around social distancing. PLEASE NOTE YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO VISIT THE CENTRE UNDER CURRENT GOVERNMENT GUIDELINES.
We will arrange times to catch up with you to see how your cat is getting on in their new home and provide any advice you may need. This starts from the day the cat is delivered and we will check in with you at approximately 3, 10 and 21 days from their adoption. At the end of the 21 days we will no longer contact you for updates, but our help doesn’t end there. We’re only ever a phone call away, so please don’t hesitate to get in touch for any advice you might need! You may also like to consider signing up to our Membership scheme which gives you access to the VetfoneTM line, and we may ask if you would be willing to participate in homing success stories articles.
