Volunteering – We need your help!
The Branch is run entirely by volunteers, and we are always looking for more enthusiastic volunteers to join our friendly team. Volunteering for Farnham and Wey Valley Cats Protection means that you are really making a difference to the many unwanted and abandoned cats in our local area.
There is a wide range of roles available, offering you the opportunity to put your existing skills to excellent use.
Here are just some of the roles we need help with at present:
Fundraising event organisers
If your strengths lie in planning and project management, we could really do with your help in organising and running fundraising events of all kinds. Fairs, stalls at other events, charity balls and gigs, sponsored events, street collections…you name it, we need your help in organising it!
If you like getting out and about and meeting new people, you can really put your spare time to good use helping out at our many fundraising events throughout the year. Setting up tables, running stalls, standing on street corners with collection tins…it’s a long list. All these tasks take manpower and we need your help!
The lovely people coming to us to adopt our cats all receive a visit from us prior to adoption to discuss what kind of cat will best suit them. If you are a friendly, outgoing person with excellent people skills, you have transport and like getting out and about and meeting new people, this could be for you!
Crafters, goods and produce makers
Are you a dab hand with crafts, card-making, cake-baking or making jam and sweets? We are always looking for high quality donated goods and produce to sell at our events, and handmade/handbaked wares are always particularly popular!
Got a spare room to dedicate to looking after one of our rescue cats whilst they wait for a home? There are always more cats to come into care than we have space for, so new fosterers are always needed. Fostering can be a challenging role, but is also highly rewarding when you see the cats you’ve been looking after so carefully find lovely new homes!
Publicity and marketing helpers
Do you have marketing and admin skills? We could always do with extra help spreading the word about what we do. Whether you are a social media fanatic, a copywriter, graphic designer, a telesales demon or simply an excellent communicator – we need your help! The marketing tasks at the branch are many and varied, and range from distributing posters and flyers in your local area, to contacting local businesses to request sponsorship and donations.
If you have outstanding leadership and people skills, and are excellent at planning and organisational tasks, we are looking for team leaders to coordinate various activities at the branch. This could be ideal for you if you have management experience, superlative communication skills and some time to spare to help get this valuable work done!
Training and support is provided for all roles. Naturally, all volunteer positions are unpaid but out of pocket expenses can be reclaimed if required.
