Welcome to Cats Protection Harrogate & District

Our branch is here to support cats and kittens in Harrogate: covering all HG postcodes, along with LS17, LS22, LS23 & YO51.

Cats Protection is the UK’s largest cat welfare charity. Cats Protection Harrogate & District is run by an experienced and skilled team of cat-loving volunteers, who are dedicated to improving the lives of cats and kittens in Harrogate. Working to find loving new homes for local cats in need, we also offer advice on a variety of subjects including neutering, microchipping and lost & found cats; as well as general education, campaigning and raising awareness within the Harrogate and District area.

Adopt a cat in Harrogate

Could you provide a loving new home for a cat in Harrogate? Adopting a cat or kitten from Cats Protection Harrogate & District means that your new friend wil benefit from the experience, skill and care expected from the UK’s largest cat welfare charity. 

Rescue cats and kittens need loving, safe homes and patient owners who understand they may take time to settle and bond. Their independent nature means affection often comes on their own terms, which can be very rewarding. Every rescue cat deserves an owner who prioritises their wellbeing, comfort, and happiness.

During the process of adopting a cat from us, we’ll consider everything from your potential pet’s personality and how this fits with your lifestyle, to your home environment – creating the perfect match for both cat and owner and the start of a wonderful feline friendship. Our cat adoption fees are £95 for adult cats and £115 for kittens up to 6 months old.

We also run a Direct Homing scheme, where cats stay with their current owner until a new loving home is found. Cats available through Cats Protection Harrogate and District are listed below; to adopt, please enquire via their listing.

Volunteer at Cats Protection Harrogate & District

Without volunteers, Cats Protection Harrogate & District simply wouldn't exist. Our amazing, friendly volunteers are a diverse group with a shared love of cats, who fit volunteering around their home lives and personal commitments. 

We're often looking to welcome new volunteers to join our brilliant team. As well as meeting great people and making an incredible difference to the cats of Harrogate, you'll enjoy practical benefits such as discounted pet insurance.

URGENT! We desperately need fosterers to offer a temporary, loving, safe home to cats in Harrogate. We cover all costs including food and vet treatments, and your new friend will stay with you until they find their fur-ever home with a permanent adopter. Trap, neuter and return (TNR) volunteer

Harrogate & District

Unfortunately, thousands of cats each year are abandoned or have strayed and rely on charities like Cats Protection for help. Becoming a trap, neuter and return (TNR) volunteer is one way you can make a real difference to cats in your local area. Our TNR volunteers help reduce the number of feral cats by raising awareness of our TNR programmes, setting humane traps to safely capture cats, taking them to local vets to be neutered, and hopefully returning them back to their territory.
