Welcome to Cats Protection Herefordshire Cat Centre

We’re here to support cats and kittens in Herefordshire and the surrounding areas, covering postcodes: HR1, HR2, HR3, HR4, HR5, HR6, HR7, HR8, HR9. We also cover areas outside of these postcodes, please contact the Centre to see how we can help.

Run by a passionate team of cat lovers, we’re dedicated to improving the lives of cats and kittens in Hereford, working to find loving new homes for local cats in our care, offering support with neutering, and lost and found cats, as well as general education and awareness within the Hereford area. Important information regarding cat admissions and rehoming

Rescue organisations and vets across The Midlands are noticing higher than usual levels of Feline Parvovirus in circulation. To safeguard the cats in our care and to prevent further transmission of the virus across the region we are taking precautions around intake and rehoming of cats which may mean our wait times are longer than usual. Please do not bring your cat to the centre until you are contacted by us to make arrangements.

Feline Parvovirus is highly contagious with a high mortality rate. If your cat shows any signs of being unwell (including, but not limited to, vomiting, diarrhoea, lethargy, high fever and a loss of appetite), please contact your nearest vet and do not bring your cat to the centre.

To help protect your cat against this virus, and to enable us to help you more speedily - please ensure your cat is up to date with vaccines and boosters.

Giving up your cat is never an easy decision, after all, we know they’re beloved members of the family. We are always full at the Centre, we run a waiting list system for cats to come into the Centre. To add your cat to our waiting list please contact the Centre.

Cat adoption in Herefordshire

Could you provide a loving new home for a cat in Hereford? Whether you are looking for a family pet, a companion, or working out door cats to keep your premises free from mice and rats, we are sure to have a cat/s in our care suitable for you. During the process of adopting a cat from us, we’ll consider everything from your potential pet’s personality and how this fits with your lifestyle, to your home environment – creating the perfect match for both cat and owner and the start of a wonderful feline friendship. Our fee for rehoming a kitten up to six months is £115 and a cat aged over six months is £95. 

Please note, if you live in rented accommodation we need to see a copy of the pet section of your tenancy agreement, or a letter from your landlord stating how many pets you can have at your home. We ask that as soon as you are thinking about adopting that you request this information, before you enquire about a cat. We will need to see the tenancy agreement or the letter on your initial visit to the centre. We will need to see two forms of ID, one which has your name and address on it and one photographic (eg utility bill and driving license)  Please only apply for a cat if you are the registered homeowner or tenant of the property. 

Please only apply if you are ready to rehome a cat/kitten, our homing process takes 1 week at the most from reserving to collecting.

Volunteer for Cats Protection Herefordshire Cat Centre

Do something amazing with your free time and be there for the cats and kittens of Hereford Adoption Centre

Without volunteers, Hereford Cats Protection simply wouldn't exist. Our wonderful volunteers are a diverse group with a shared love of cats who fit volunteering around their home lives and personal commitments. Whether minutes or months, days or decades, any time you kindly give to volunteering in Hereford AC will improve the lives of the cats and kittens in the local community.
