Power of the microchip

23 April 2022
Power of the microchip Little kitty Candy went missing, and through the power of social media and one of our wonderful volunteers going to "chip check" a found cat, she was reunited with her very relieved owners. Such a happy ending! Please do not underestimate the power of the microchip - make sure your pets are chipped as soon as you are able. Also importantly, please make sure to update the central database with any contact detail changes you have - here is a good place to start: https://www.petlog.org.uk/pet-keeper/updating-your-details/

Microchipping is a way to give your pet a unique identifier, and this unique number is linked to your contact details in a secure database, so it is imperative you keep it updated. If you find a stray pet, please take to your local veterinary practice, they will scan the pet for free (they love to reunite lost pets with their owners, trust me from experience, it is an absolute highlight of the day!)

If all pet owners make sure their pets are microchipped, and their details are uptodate, reunitifcation can be done so much quicker and easier.

if you would like to be part of the local Cats Protection team facilitating the reunification of lost pets by updating our social media and liasing with our webmaster, please get in touch! midwarwickcats@hotmail.com
