Adopt a cat

Before going to a new home every cat in our care is:

  • fully health checked by the vet
  • treated for fleas and worms
  • vaccinated
  • microchipped
  • neutered (if old enough)
  • homed with 4 weeks’ free pet insurance

Prior to homing a cat, we will carry out a cat matching visit which involves a Cats Protection representative visiting you in your home to discuss what kind of cat you want and also to answer any questions on cat care that you may have

The average cost of preparing a cat in our care for rehoming can reach well over £150 and that doesn't include any other necessary treatment. Cats Protection receives no Government funding and therefore relies solely on the members of the public to ensure that Branches like ours can continue their work.

Moray Cats Protection asks adopters for a fee of £50 when rehoming a cat/kitten. If you feel able to make a donation on top of the fee that would, of course, be gratefully received. We know times are hard so thank you for your interest in giving a home to a CP cat.

For more explanation about why we charge a fee, please read  Our Adoption Fee Explained.

Please note that we are a small Branch and sometimes have no space to take in cats that need re-homing for whatever reason. We therefore help by providing a Home 2 Home service. Home 2 Home cats are not taken into our care and do not come with our usual guarantees. We will just help establish contact between you and the current owner. If you are interested in these cats, please use the contact us form in the cat details.
Please call 07837-342646 if you are looking for a cat but can't see anything suitable. As we are all volunteers you may initially have to leave a message, but we will get back to you.
