Volunteering

We have a number of volunteer vacancies at present, and below are some of our opportunities:

Committee Roles:

* Fundraising Team Leader - more details can be found below
* Admissions Team Leader - moredetails can be found below

Helpline Volunteer

If you have a day or half a day during the week, we are looking for people to answer our branch phone and help the public with their enquiries, for example, for adoption, cats to come into care, lost or found cats, neutering requests and take messages.

This is done from your own home; your number is never displayed to the callers. You take down information from callers and pass it onto other volunteers for handling.

You must have email, be able to complete a basic Word document and have a printer. If you are interested in this role please email: volunteer@reading.cats.org.uk

Shop Assistant Volunteer

Our Cats Protection shops play a key part in raising the funds needed to help thousands of cats and kittens each year.

Our shop assistant volunteers help with all aspects of the day to day running of one of our fantastic shops. They serve customers, help with stock rotation, create displays - and everything in between! They are part of a passionate retail team that make sure our shops are enjoyable places for customers to visit, leading to repeat custom and vital funds being raised to help our feline friends in need. If you are interested in this role please email: volunteer@reading.cats.org.uk

Publicity Team Leader Volunteer

Our publicity team leaders have the important role of supporting a wider team of publicity volunteers. As a team our publicity volunteers collectively keep members of the public informed of the vital and varied ways we help our feline friends in need. Raising awareness is crucial to us being able to help the thousands of cats and kittens each year that rely on us. A higher profile can help raise funds, raise awareness of adopting a cat, promote neutering and encourage as many people as possible to learn about feline welfare.

Branch administration team leader volunteer

Without the passionate and committed teams of volunteers across Cats Protection we wouldn’t be able to help the thousands of cats and kittens each year that rely on us for help. The purpose of this role is to support the organisation with communications and administration at a local level. You’ll play an active part in the branch committee and support the branch with record keeping and planning, thus enabling more cats to be helped.
