Run by a small group of passionate, cat-loving volunteers, we’re dedicated to improving the lives of cats and kittens in Sheffield, Barnsley and Rotherham.

Our branch comprises of the former North Sheffield branch (which was established in 1988), Sheffield Hallam Branch (originally established in 1983) and Barnsley Branch. We are run entirely by dedicated volunteers who give their free time to help cats and kittens in the Sheffield, Barnsley and Rotherham areas. We always welcome new volunteers, no matter how little time you have.

Our dedicated supporters foster cats, raise funds and generally keep the branch going, enabling us to take unwanted cats and kittens into care year in year out.

We believe that there is a loving home out there somewhere for every cat, we try to ensure that every cat is given the chance of a life where it will be treated with kindness and understanding, and we never put a cat, kitten, elderly or ill cat to sleep except on clear veterinary advice.

We are committed to caring for the cats who, often through no fault of their own come into care. Our aim is to rehome them safely with loving families, matching the right cat to the right home.

Cat adoption in Sheffield, Barnsley and Rotherham

Could you provide a loving new home for a cat in Sheffield, Barnsley or Rotherham? During the process of adopting a cat from us, we’ll consider everything from your potential pet’s personality and how this fits with your lifestyle, to your home environment – creating the perfect match for both cat and owner and the start of a wonderful feline friendship.

Cats available for adoption from Cats Protection Sheffield & District Branch are featured below. To express your interest in a particular cat, please enquire via their listing. If you have any general enquiries about your suitability, or the adoption process, please contact: adoption@sheffield.cats.org.uk

Our current adoption fees are £85 for an adult cat and £105 for a kitten under 6 months.

We also work very closely with our local RSPCA branch, and you can find more cats available for adoption in the Sheffield area at the RSPCA Sheffield Animal Shelter.

Direct Homing

We now also operate a Direct Homing scheme, where cats stay with their owner until a new loving home can be found for them. All cats on our Direct Homing scheme will have had the same veterinary checks, flea and worm treatments, neutering, microchipping and vaccinations before they are homed, and the adoption fee for these cats is the same.

Please note that due to the number of applications we receive for our cats available for adoption, we can only reply to homes we feel will be a good match for the cat(s). If you haven't heard anything from us within 10 days, unfortunately your application wasn't the best match on this occasion.
