Volunteering

Volunteer Opportunities

We welcome all new volunteers to help with our branch activities. We also need more fosterers to help care for our rescued cats and kittens on a short term basis until a permanent home can be found for them. Fostering can be done inside the home if you have a suitable room, or if you have space in your garden we can supply an outside cabin and run (see picture). The branch pays for all the food and equipment needed and there is always plenty of advice, support and training in cat/kitten care. Cat and kitten fosterers can normally combine work and fostering without any problems.

Access to a car is needed for routine trips to the vet for check-ups and vaccinations etc. Fostering is very rewarding and the more fosterers we have the more cats we are able to help. If you would like more information please ring and have a chat with our Homing and Welfare Officer.

We are also looking for people who can help us with fundraising and could spare some time to help with our fundraising events.

We would love to hear from you if you think you may be able to offer help.

Volunteer publicity team leader

Our publicity team leaders have the important role of supporting a wider team of publicity volunteers. As a team our publicity volunteers collectively keep members of the public informed of the vital and varied ways we help our feline friends in need. Raising awareness is crucial to us being able to help the thousands of cats and kittens each year that rely on us. A higher profile can help raise funds, raise awareness of adopting a cat, promote neutering and encourage as many people as possible to learn about feline welfare.

Fosterer support volunteer

Across the UK our feline friends looking for new homes are cared for by volunteer fosterers in their homes or purpose built pens in their gardens. Our fosterer support volunteers don’t directly look after cats themselves, but they provide the vital assistance and support needed for our volunteer fosterers to focus on looking after the cats in their care. The support they provide can include answering queries, delivering supplies, and even moving cats from one fosterer to another.

Volunteer website editor

Our volunteer website editors promote the activities of our local volunteer groups and teams by helping keep their websites relevant, exciting and engaging for members of the public. Local websites are often the first place members of the public will look to find out more about Cats Protection. A positive local profile can help raise funds, promote adopting a cat, promote neutering and make sure as many people as possible learn about feline welfare.

Volunteer re-homing team leader

At Cats Protection we will continue to find new homes for cats and kittens in need until our work around information, education and neutering reduces the long-term need for homing. Life in a rescue environment is never ideal for any cat compared to a loving home. Our rehoming team leaders support a team of volunteer home visitors who collectively play an important part in matching our feline friends with their new families.
