The Cats Protection Ballymena Branch is run by a small group of dedicated volunteers working to help cats and kittens in need in our area of Northern Ireland. We do not have a physical location (we volunteer from our own homes) and we are not an adoption centre.

Our branch is primarily a neutering branch, working to tackle overpopulation and unnecessary suffering of stray and feral cats in and around our area. We do this through the free charity service Trap Neuter Return (TNR), in which we prevent current populations from getting any larger - should you be in need of neutering assistance with an unowned cat, please contact us via neutering@ballymena.cats.org.uk.

We will also be running events such as educational events and fundraising events, so keep an eye on our news or on our social media pages! (Fb:@ballymenacats)

COVID-19 LOCKDOWN 2021:
  • Our rehoming activities remain open, under the 'Hands Free Homing' system which was previously in use (see https://www.cats.org.uk/ballymena/adopt-a-cat/hands-free-homing)
  • Our Trap Neuter Return activities have unfortunately been limited to urgent cases of sick, injured and distressed cats. Routine neutering requests should still be reported to us, to add to our waiting list, as this list is building. The earlier it is added the better!
  • We can still provide financial assistance for feral/stray cat neutering, in the event they can get to a vet without volunteer assistance.
  • We can still provide advice and support when needed
