Adopt a cat
GOOD NEWS RE CAT ADOPTIONS
Our cats and kittens will continue to be available for rehoming following our charity's social distancing protocols. If you are interested in adopting please phone our Catline 01268 285778 where your details will be taken by our Messaging Service and passed on to the Branch to call you back or use the Adopt a Cat contact button on the cats details
(please do not message us on facebook as this will delay your application)
STAGE 1: Our Homing Officer will take further details and will go through our new Homing procedure more thoroughly, discuss with you payment of our Adoption Fee of £80 and put you in touch with the fosterer of the cat you are interested in.
STAGE 2: The fosterer will be able to discuss in more detail the cat they have personally been looking after with you. We are unable to offer to do a home visit or invite you to see the cat in person, but where possible if required, they can email or Whatsapp more photos of the cat and ask you, to in return, send photos of the room where you will keep the cat in the first few days and your garden , if applicable. The fosterer will also be able to advise what food and litter the cat prefers and reserve the cat for a maximum of 5 days.
STAGE 3:
In some instances you can now collect the cat from our fosterers. Where this isn't possibly we will discuss the possibility of the branch delivering the cat to you. The fosterer will phone you after 3 days to check that the cat has settled in and diary for more calls. You will also be able to contact the branch by phone to our Catline or email adoption@basildon.cats.org.uk if you have any worries or concerns.
PLEASE NOTE THAT FOR THE FORSEEABLE FUTURE WE ARE ONLY ABLE TO REHOME OUR CATS AND KITTENS IN OUR OWN OR NEIGHBOURING BRANCH AREAS.
Due to the high amount of adoption enquiries we are getting for our cats, we will place a reserve on the cat once 4 enquiries have been received for that cat, to allow us to process those enquiries. To enable our volunteers to apply their time to the benefit of the cats, we will only be able to return calls to the most suitable enquiries, so please do not be offended if we don't call you back.
UPDATE :
DUE TO THE LIMITATIONS THAT OUR VETS ARE WORKING UNDER DUE TO THESE UNPRECEDENTED TIMES, AND A SHORTAGE OF VETS LOCALLY, IT IS TAKING LONGER TO GET THE ROUTINE HEALTH CHECKS AND VACCINATIONS FOR OUR CATS. WHEN WE DO HAVE CATS AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION WE WILL ADD THEIR DETAILS HERE.
