Adopt a Cat | Cherwell Cats Protection
When you adopt a cat from Cherwell Cats Protection you are helping us to ensure that a deserving animal gets the chance to live a full and happy life, to become a cherished pet and not simply be treated as a consumer item to be acquired and discarded at will.
All of the cats in our care receive a full medical examination in preparation for being re-homed, including a full course of vaccinations and flea and worming treatments. Cats are also microchipped and registered to their new owners, and we include four weeks free Pet Plan pet insurance with each adoption.
All adult cats are neutered in our care, whilst kittens under a specific age remain un-neutered (as per veterinarian guidance) and are re-homed along with a Cherwell CP neutering voucher to help the new owner meet the cost of having their pet neutered at the earliest appropriate age. Adoption is subject to a home visit by our re-homing officer, and the payment of our relevant adoption fee.
Included with each adoption:
- Medical Examination
- Flea and Worming Treatment
- Microchip ID and Registration
- Pet Plan Insurance - 4 Weeks Free Cover
- Adult Cats - £80, Neutered
- Kittens - £70, Neutering Voucher
So, you’ve come to find a cat - and you know which one you’d like to meet - what now? Simply contact Cherwell Cats Protection via the web form and let us know you’re interested in adopting a cat, and tell us which one. We’ll arrange an introduction for you at the cat’s location (typically with the assistance of the cat’s fosterer) and if after meeting you’d like to proceed with the adoption our re-homing officer will conduct a home visit to ensure that your location is suitable for the animal to be re-homed.
We always try to find the best possible home and family for the cats in our care, and carrying out home visits before the cat is adopted is an important step to help us to learn about the individual situation with any prospective new owner. Once the home visit is carried out successfully, we’ll help you complete some brief and straightforward paperwork which will enable you to adopt, subject to your payment of the relevant adoption fee.
Find a Cat
We hope you can find a cat or kitten to love using our latest cat profiles on this page, however we often have other felines in our care that are not quite ready for adoption, such as for legal or medical reasons. If you’d like to find out if we have any more cats available please contact us via this website.
Our standard re-homing procedure is to take in a cat that needs our help, undertake a health check and place it in the care of one of our cat fosterers until it's ready to leave us for a permanent, loving home. Direct re-homing is an alternative arrangement offered free of charge when suitable.
Occasionally, an owner may have to relinquish their pet and it is deemed preferable to re-home it directly - our fosterers may be at full capacity, or an owner may prefer their pet does not endure the stress of being placed temporarily in a pen.
In situations like these we can list the cat as needing a new home and place a prospective new owner in touch with the current owner, who then arrange the pet's re-homing between them. In this instance, we'll only get involved if requested to do so, for example by carrying out a home visit of the cat's new home beforehand.
Some of the cats in our care may not yet be on our website. If you are looking for a feline companion, please contact us on 07716 596 212
