Volunteer

Do you have a love of cats and a little free time?  Why not consider volunteering for us?  Becoming one of our volunteers will see you joining a team of dedicated people across our branch area. You’ll be well supported by our other volunteers, and training will be provided where needed.

We have a number of volunteer vacancies currently available as outlined below - all of which can be shared between volunteers if needed. Please see the bottom of the page for details of how to get in touch

🐾 VOLUNTEER FUNDRAISING MANAGER

We are looking for an enthusiastic person to join our brilliant team of volunteers, leading on fundraising and events planning.  This is a great volunteer opportunity taking the lead on organising, planning and delivering fundraising events and activities such as stalls at local shopping centres, village fetes, community events etc, and also promoting the use of fundraising platforms, and seeking out other opportunities and activities to raise much needed funds for the branch.  As well as planning and delivering events, you’ll be coordinating branch volunteers to support events and activities ensuring sufficient coverage and support.

🐾 ADOPTION/REHOMING VOLUNTEER

We are looking for someone to join our brilliant team, focusing on adoptions and rehoming.  This is such a lovely and rewarding volunteer opportunity, helping cats and kittens find their new forever loving homes.  You’ll be liaising with prospective new owners to arrange visits to view cats, making sure any system records are updated, adoption paperwork is completed, and providing/coordinating transport if needed.  Training on the process will be provided and you will be well supported by our lovely team of other volunteers

🐾 CAT WELFARE TEAM LEADER

We are looking for someone for this important role in coordinating, encouraging, and supporting teams of fosterers, and cat care volunteers; providing advice and guidance when needed.

You’ll be well supported, working alongside our other volunteers to ensure cat care policies, procedures, standards and welfare policies are followed to high standard. As the key welfare point of contact within the branch, you’ll ensure that welfare updates are shared and implemented effectively and accurate records are keep.  Full training will be provided.

🐾 FOSTER CARERS

With no shelter facilities, our branch is run entirely by our wonderful volunteers and we are currently in desperate need of foster carers as we have LOTS of cats and kittens that need our help.  It breaks our hearts when we have to turn cats away as we have no spaces to take them in.  Just a few more fosterers could make the world of difference to our small branch.  Even if you love cats but are not able to offer a forever home, or make a longer term commitment, then fostering for our branch may be the answer!  We cover ALL costs towards fostering, providing everything from toys, litter trays, and food.  If you or someone you know has space (inside in a spare room, or outside space for a fully provided pen) to provide temporary accommodation for cats waiting to be rehomed, we’d love to hear from you.

🐾 GENERAL VOLUNTEERS

We couldn’t do any of what we do without our dedicated volunteers.  We’d love to hear from you if you’d like to support the branch in any way - this could be lending a hand at our fundraising events, getting involved on our Facebook page, responding to enquiries and generally supporting wherever needed.  However big or small a contribution you’re able make, any support would be hugely appreciated.

If you are interested in any of these volunteer roles, please send us a private message via our Facebook page, email us at enquiries@southwirral.cats.org.uk or call us on 0151 355 9813
