What we do

We are part of Cats Protection, the UK's leading feline welfare charity.  We are one of a network of 29 adoption centres and over 250 volunteer run branches covering the UK.

Our Centre was opened in 2001 and we have 40 pens including homing, kittens, maternity and isolation.  Each year we home approximately 600 cats and kittens, but we still always have a long waiting list for cats to come into the Centre.

If you reserve a cat, we ask you to complete a Homing Questionaire and then we make an appointment with you to discuss the homing process and to complete the relevant rehoming paperwork.  We may also arrange a home visit prior to you taking your new pet home.  This means we can make sure you have chosen a cat suitable for your home life and environment and enables you to ask any questions you may have.  The areas we can home cats in are St Helens, Liverpool, Widnes, Runcorn and Warrington.  If you live outside of these areas please call the Centre for details of your nearest Centre or Branch or you can visit www.cats.org.uk and entre your postcode into the Branch finder.

We are open 11am - 3pm every day except Wedesday and you are welcome to visit us during these hours (no appointment needed) to view the cats in our care which are patiently waiting for new homes, or to visit our on site shop.

Homing - finding good homes for cats in need
If you feel you can offer a home to one of our needy cats, please view their photos and read the information contained in our "Home a cat" section

Neutering - supporting and encouraging the neutering of cats

Please phone the Centre for advice on neutering as we can often help with the cost by providing a voucher for money off cat neutering at your local vets for owners on benefits/low income.

Information - Improving people's understanding of cats and their care

We are always happy to give advice (non veterinary) and information to help you and your cat

Because of this policy, we always have a waiting list for cats to come into the Centre and we have to wait for a cat to be rehomed before admitting another cat.  If you need your cat to be rehomed, call the Centre and you will be placed on the waiting list until a space becomes available. Please be aware that we are unable to collect cats and you will have to bring the cat to the Centre once we have room.
