Welcome to Cats Protection Weymouth & District Branch

We cover areas throughout West Dorset including Dorchester, Weymouth, Portland, Bridport & Beaminster: DT1 - DT2 - DT3 - DT4 - DT5 - DT6 - DT8.

Run by a small team of dedicated, cat-loving volunteers, we're passionate about improving the lives of cats and kittens, working to find loving new homes for local cats in our care, and lost and found cats, as well as general education and awareness. In some circumstances we can make a contribution towards the cost of neutering (spaying) a female cat. We are unable to assist with other veterinary charges for owned cats.

Cat adoption in Weymouth & District

Could you provide a loving new home for a cat in the area covered by Cats Protection Weymouth & District?

During the process of adopting a cat from us, we’ll consider everything from your potential pet’s personality and how this fits with your lifestyle, to your home environment – creating the perfect match for both cat and owner and the start of a wonderful feline friendship.

Ideally, we would like cats adopted from this branch to go to new homes within the area we cover (Weymouth, Portland, Dorchester, Bridport) in case there are any post-adoption problems.

Volunteer at Cats Protection Weymouth & District Branch

Without volunteers, Cats Protection Weymouth & District simply wouldn't exist. Our friendly volunteers are a diverse group with a shared love of cats who fit volunteering around their home lives and personal commitments.

If you think you may be able to help us in some way, we would love to hear from you. We often have a variety of volunteer roles available, including 'hands on' cat fostering, and fosterer support roles. Our aim is to find every cat that enters our care a "forever home", as well as educating cat owners about the importance of neutering and good general cat care.

We're keen to welcome new volunteers to join our team. As well as meeting great people and making a real difference to cats in our area you'll enjoy practical benefits such as discounted pet insurance. You can find out more about volunteering for Cats Protection here.

Please note: As of  Monday 3 June 2024, the RSPCA refocussed its services to prioritise work on cruelty and neglect. As a result, they are asking the public and partners for support with incidents that do not fall into this category.

For any injured stray cats, members of the public are being asked to take them straight to a veterinary surgeon for emergency treatment, instead of speaking with the RSPCA. Their inspectors are able to support if the cat is feral and a member of the public is unable to handle them.
