Adopt a cat

Cats Protection policy requires us to do a home-visit before we can allow anyone to adopt one of our cats.
The postcode areas that we generally cover are: SO21, SO22, SO23 and SO24.
If you do not live in Winchester, please check to see if we are your most local branch.

All cats and kittens that come into our branch receive a veterinary check up on admission and any treatment required is given.
Annual vaccinations will be maintained if due or re-started if they have lapsed. If you give a home to one of our cats before it has had the second of the two starter vaccines, this second vaccine will be paid for by Cats Protection if it is taken to one of our vets. After this there is no on-going requirement to continue to use the same vet practice.
All cats and kittens will receive a identifying microchip if they don't already have one, be neutered or spayed if necessary and given flea and worming treatment.

Cats Protection now ask for a fee when we home a cat or kitten. If you feel able to make an additional donation to aid our branch further in its work we would be extremely grateful, often the cost of vet's fees per cat are much greater than the standard adoption fee that you will have paid!

All cats and kittens are homed with a free 4-week insurance policy. After which you will be given the opportunity to continue the policy.
Please be aware that we do not have a central adoption centre open to the public. Cats are cared for by volunteer fosterers around the area and specific arrangements must be made to view any particular cat. Fosterers will be making time out of their busy lives to show you the cats so please make sure that everyone involved in the decision attends the viewing!
