What we do

The Winchester & District Branch of Cats Protection is run entirely by volunteers, with the aim of rescuing and re-homing stray, abandoned and unwanted cats and kittens found in our area.

All the cats and kittens are cared for by dedicated fosterers, feeding, litter trays, trips to the vets and lots of TLC!

We do not have a purpose built adoption centre and office as some larger branches have, everything is managed at our own homes in our own free time.

We can also help manage feral colonies of cats, where previously domesticated cats have been abandoned and left to breed and fend for themselves. Adult cats are captured humanely, health checked, neutered and returned (if safe) or re-located to 'work' as expert vermin control in, for example, farm buildings or riding stables elsewhere in the district. Please let us know if you are looking for a 'working cat' and we may be able to re-locate one or more from our regular feral colonies.

We never put a healthy cat to sleep.

In order to finance our work, we run a busy programme of fundraising events, there is also a Donate button at the top right of the Home page and anything donated here will find its way to our branch funds.

Our Facebook pages are always worth a look!

Neutering
The Branch may be able to help you with the some of the cost of neutering or spaying your cat or kitten. Did you know that many vet practices are now able to neuter kittens as young as 4 months old if the kitten is sufficiently developed?
Please call 01962 883536 to see how we could help.
