Due to the ongoing situation with COVID-19 we are taking some extra precautions at this time to try and ensure that we keep our staff and visitors safe so we can continue to care for cats.

The Adoption Centre is currently CLOSED to visitors, however we are offering a Hands Free Homing process where appropriate. Please visit the Adopt A Cat page for further information.

We are still admitting cats needing to be rehomed.

Please use the Contact Us page if you require these services.

Thank you for your patience at this time.

Welcome to York Cats Protection Adoption Centre.

Here you can check out our news items and features, find details of upcoming events and most importantly see the cats in our care looking for new homes.

The York Branch of Cats Protection was established in January 1992, with the Adoption Centre at 582 Huntington Rd. opening in April 2001. We are part of a network of 32 Adoption Centres and over 250 volunteer run Branches, collectively helping around 200,000 cats and kittens every year.

The charity’s vision is a world where every cat is treated with kindness and an understanding of its needs.

Our objectives are:

Homing - Finding good homes for cats in need
Neutering - Supporting and encouraging the neutering of cats
Information - Improving people’s understanding of cats and their care
